Spain has expressed strong interest in expanding its investment and commercial presence in Bangladesh, particularly in manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, technology and other potential sectors.
The interest was conveyed when Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh María Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s foreign affairs adviser Humayun Kobir at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Tejgaon area of the capital.
According to official discussions, both sides explored ways to further strengthen and diversify bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Spain. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy, infrastructure development, tourism, agriculture, education, technology and skilled human resource development.
The Spanish ambassador appreciated Bangladesh’s ongoing economic growth, investment-friendly environment and strategic geographic position.
She reiterated Spain’s interest in strengthening business and investment ties, particularly in manufacturing, renewable energy projects, infrastructure development and technology-based industries.
She also highlighted opportunities for greater engagement between the private sectors of both countries to open new avenues for trade and investment.
Adviser Humayun Kobir welcomed Spanish investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh. He underlined the country’s growing economic prospects and development partnership with international partners.
He said Bangladesh has emerged as a stable and promising destination for foreign investment. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining a supportive environment for investors.
The adviser stressed the need to deepen economic cooperation to further strengthen bilateral relations and create mutually beneficial opportunities.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on issues of mutual interest and expressed optimism about taking Bangladesh–Spain relations to a higher level.
