Singer Sonu Nigam has shared an emotional message as his 19-year-old son, Nevaan Nigam, takes his first major step into the music industry with a short film titled ‘Slide,’ writes Hindustan Times.
Sonu and his wife, Madhurima Nigam, introduced Nevaan’s new venture in a Diwali social media post, reflecting on his transformation from a shy child into a young performer determined to build his own identity in music.
Sonu revealed that Nevaan once felt too nervous to sing in front of his father. Today, he practises vocal exercises for up to 16 hours a day under the guidance of his vocal coach. He has also recorded songs in one take at the studio with music producer Poo Bear and spends hours practising dance to improve his performance skills.
The singer also recalled Nevaan’s early connection with music. At just four, he sang ‘Kolaveri Di’ in a studio. At four and a half, he performed his father’s song ‘Abhi Mujhme Kahin’ on stage.
Sonu said his son’s dedication had brought immense happiness to the family. He thanked fans for their continued affection and asked them to bless Nevaan as he begins this new chapter with hard work, passion, dignity and humility.
‘Slide’ marks Nevaan’s first major project as an artist. He developed the concept for the short film and co-directed it with Alexander Cobian. The Audibles composed the music, while Poo Bear has also helped train his vocals.
Through the project, Nevaan is beginning to explore his own creative direction rather than simply follow the musical path of his father and grandfather.
