A total of 300 candidates have been initially selected through an electronic lottery for recruitment at the renowned Malaysian company DHL Supply Chain (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd at zero migration cost.
The lottery was conducted in a transparent and impartial manner on Sunday afternoon in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, officials from Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), and journalists.
The selection was made from 4,029 candidates who submitted online applications within the prescribed deadline between 6 November and the afternoon of 8 November.
Among the 300 shortlisted applicants, 200 were selected for the position of operations assistant, whilst 100 were chosen as technical skill workers.
The list of selected candidates will soon be published on the official website and Facebook page of BOESL.
Practical and oral examinations for the 300 shortlisted candidates will subsequently be conducted in the direct presence of representatives from hiring firm DHL Supply Chain.
Following the assessment, 112 final successful workers will be sent to Malaysia at zero migration cost, with the employer bearing all expenses, including medical fees and airfare.
Speaking at the event, Ahmadul Haque, acting secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, said such initiatives will help achieve the government’s election commitment of sending one crore workers abroad over the next five years.
He added that the initiative also reflects the practical implementation of the expatriates’ welfare minister’s declared promise to send workers at zero cost.
Mohammad Rashedul Haq, managing director of BOESL, said this marks the first time that an initiative has been taken to select qualified and skilled workers through a lottery for sending workers to Malaysia governmentally.
He explained that BOESL aims to convey a message to the nation that the organisation always operates with transparency and neutrality.
In response to queries from journalists, the managing director of BOESL informed that flights for the recruited workers are scheduled to begin in the first week of December.
Moreover, BOESL has already received demand letters for an additional 558 personnel across the tourism, manufacturing, and caregiving sectors.
