Sonali Bank PLC is providing its education scholarships to 850 deserving secondary and higher secondary students across the country as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
On September 16, a total of 60 students from Dhaka were awarded scholarships at a ceremony held at the bank’s head office.
Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, chairman of Sonali Bank, distributed the scholarship money as chief guest. Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf, secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Mohammed Jahangir Alam, Md Mofazzal Husain, and Tariqul Islam Chowdhury, directors, also attended as special guests.
The event was presided over by Md Shawkat Ali Khan, managing director and CEO of Sonali Bank.
Deputy managing directors, general managers, deputy general managers, bank officials, and students’ guardians were present at the ceremony.
Scholarships for the remaining students will be distributed at the district level through organised programmes.
