Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan has been ruled out for around three weeks with an ankle injury sustained during the final T20 against the West Indies, while left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam will be sidelined for approximately two weeks due to a hamstring problem.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said both players have been advised a 10-day rest period and will remain under close observation before further decisions are made.
“The update is the same for Sohan and Shoriful. Both will be monitored regularly over the next 10 days and will continue physiotherapy during this period. After 10 days we will assess their condition and decide the next step,” Dr Chowdhury told T Sports.
According to a reliable source, Sohan, who twisted his right ankle, will not be able to take part in any cricket-related activities for about three weeks. As a result, he is likely to miss the early part of Bangladesh’s upcoming T20 series against Ireland.
Shoriful, meanwhile, is expected to recover in two weeks and could return to action on 21 November in the National Cricket League if his rehabilitation goes as planned.
