Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan sustained an ankle injury during the third and final T20I against West Indies in Chattogram on Saturday, as the hosts suffered another batting collapse to lose the series 3–0.
The incident occurred after the drinks break in the second innings. In the 11th over, Akim Ogis flicked the first ball from Sheikh Mehedi for a single to deep mid-wicket. With Litton Das temporarily taking over wicketkeeping duties, Sohan was fielding inside the ring when television cameras suddenly showed him collapsing on the ground, clutching his ankle in pain.
BCB physiotherapist Bayejidul Islam rushed onto the field to provide immediate treatment, but Sohan remained in visible discomfort. Unable to put any weight on his foot, he was stretchered off the field and later taken to a hospital for an X-ray. The scan revealed no major fracture, although pain and swelling persisted around the ankle.
A reliable source from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Sohan has been seen walking with the aid of crutches. The right-handed batter is scheduled to meet with the BCB medical team in Dhaka on Sunday, 2 November, for further assessment.
Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam also suffered a hamstring injury in the same match after bowling two overs for 12 runs. An MRI scan has been completed, though the extent of the injury is yet to be confirmed by the BCB medical team.
