West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd has expressed his desire to play in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) if given the opportunity. However, the Caribbean cricketer remains uncertain about whether he will feature in any other franchise league during the December–January window.
Shepherd recently became the second Caribbean bowler after Jason Holder to claim a hat-trick in T20 internationals. He produced a brilliant spell against Bangladesh, taking three wickets for 36 runs.
In the 17th over, he dismissed Nurul Hasan Sohan for a single, before striking again in the final over. On the first ball of that over, he removed Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who had scored 89 off 62 balls, and then claimed the wicket of Shoriful Islam to complete his hat-trick.
Speaking after the match, Shepherd shared his enthusiasm for returning to the BPL. The right-arm pacer has played in the league once before, featuring in the 2023–24 season where he represented Chattogram Challengers. When asked about his interest in participating again, he said, “If I am available and get selected, I will play.”
During his previous stint with Chattogram Challengers, Shepherd took five wickets in four matches, including a best of three for 27, and scored a total of 90 runs. One of his standout performances with the bat was an unbeaten 66.
Shepherd also spoke fondly of his former BPL teammate Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who is now shining for the national team. “I like Tanzid Tamim, he played really well. I played with him in the BPL, and it feels good to see him doing well for Bangladesh,” Shepherd said.
