Prime Video cancelled Spider-Noir days ago. Now the Marvel series has won five Emmys, prompting speculation that the streamer could rethink its decision.
The Hollywood Reporter said the Nicolas Cage-led series had 11 Creative Arts Awards nominations, winning cinematography, sound editing, stunt coordination, title design and special visual effects.
Other nominations included production design, sound mixing, stunt performance, music composition, prosthetic makeup, and original music and lyrics.
Asked if the wins could revive it, stunt coordinators Freddy Bouciegues and Hugh Aodh O’Brien joked renewal was beyond their department; Bouciegues said he would make some calls.
Set in 1930s New York, Cage plays Ben Reilly, a private investigator and former superhero. Sony Pictures Television produced it for MGM+ and Prime Video.
Cast includes Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson.
Based on Marvel’s Spider-Man Noir comics, it reimagines the character during the Great Depression. Created by David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky and Carmine Di Giandomenico, the comics debuted in 2008.
