Soft copies of new textbooks for the 2026 academic year, from pre-primary to secondary level, have been uploaded to the website of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
The PDF versions are available at www.nctb.gov.bd, allowing access to 647 editions of new textbooks in Bangla and English from anywhere in the world.
The textbooks cover primary, ibtedayi, small ethnic groups, secondary, dakhil and technical levels.
The initiative was inaugurated on Sunday by Education Adviser CR Rafiqul Abrar and Primary and Mass Education Adviser Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder.
The online versions of the textbooks were formally released at a programme held at the NCTB auditorium in Motijheel in the capital.
All pre-primary and primary level textbooks for the new academic year have already been delivered to educational institutions.
Children across the country will receive their new books on 1 January 2026.
However, around 80 percent of printing and about 60 per cent of distribution of textbooks for secondary, dakhil, dakhil (vocational) and technical levels have been completed.
As a result, students from Class Six to Class Nine will not receive all their books on the first day of the year and will get only a few core textbooks.
The programme was also attended by Ministry of Education Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Rehana Parveen, Primary and Mass Education Ministry Secretary Abu Taher Md Masud Rana, NCTB Chairman Md Mahbubul Haq Patwary and other officials concerned.
