The flow of new Bangladeshi films is returning to cinemas after a two-month lull. Following the release of Mastul and Bapjan last Friday after the Eid-ul-Azha break, another local film, Sneher Bandhan, is set to hit theatres on 24 July.
Directed by Kamruzzaman, the family drama stars Joy Chowdhury and Mou Khan.
Producer Md Shah Alam said the film will open in more than 20 cinemas across the country during its first week.
The filmmakers expressed optimism about the film, saying audiences have long been waiting for a family-oriented story on the big screen.
Speaking about the film, Joy Chowdhury said Sneher Bandhan centres on family relationships.
He noted that Bangladeshi audiences once embraced such films, but recent years have seen an increase in violence-focused productions.
“Many films now focus on violence in the name of action. That is also harmful to society,” he said.
The actor added that he believes audiences still appreciate strong storytelling and hopes filmmakers will once again produce family-based films similar to those popular in the 1990s.
Producer Md Shah Alam said the film explores family ties, emotions and relationship conflicts.
He expressed hope that Sneher Bandhan would connect with audiences and receive a positive response as the local film industry sees the return of new theatrical releases.
