Popular singer Tanjib Sarowar is all set to tie the knot. The artist, known for his soulful voice and romantic numbers, recently got engaged to army officer Saba Sanjida Rahman.
The engagement ceremony took place on Friday at the CSD area in Dhaka Cantonment in the presence of close family members.
Confirming the news himself, Tanjib told the media on Saturday evening, “Yes, our engagement took place yesterday. It was a simple family event held at the Cantonment.”
“We couldn’t inform everyone yet, but we’ll share the news widely during the wedding. The wedding date hasn’t been finalized, as Saba’s official approval is still pending,” he told the media.
Describing his bride-to-be, Tanjib said, “Our relationship is quite interesting; she’s an army officer and I’m a singer. I think it’s rare in history to see a musician marrying an army officer! She completed the long course in the army and is now serving as a Lieutenant, and her family lives in Wari, Dhaka.”
Sharing how the two first met, Tanjib recalled, “Back in 2014, after my song ‘Dil Amar’ was released, I went to Chhayanaut to learn music. Saba was taking Nazrul Sangeet lessons there at that time and that’s where she first saw me and later commented on my Facebook post, praising my song. After that, we had no contact for ten years.”
“Early this year, I came across one of her Facebook stories featuring a painting and I complimented her. That’s how we started talking again. Eventually, I found out she’s an army officer. I told her directly that I wasn’t looking for a casual relationship; if we were to move forward, marriage should be the goal. Both families later met and we fixed the date for our engagement. The wedding will take place at a convenient time soon.”
Tanjib Sarowar began his musical career in 2011 with his debut solo album ‘Andormohol’. His following albums ‘Meghboron’ (2014) and ‘Hridmohini’ (2016) cemented his place in the contemporary Bangladeshi music scene.
In 2023, he made his playback debut in Raihan Rafi’s film ‘Surongo’ with the song Ga Chhuye Bolo. Most recently, he lent his voice to ‘Payel’ alongside singer Konal.
The film, directed by Raihan Khan, stars Ziaul Roshan and Ashna Habib Bhabna.
