Actor Siam Ahmed has dismissed suggestions of rivalry with Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan, saying his ambitions are focused on personal growth rather than competition within the industry.

Siam made the remarks while speaking to an Indian media outlet during the final stages of shooting for his upcoming film ‘Rakkhosh’, which is currently being filmed in Sri Lanka. Directed by Mehedi Hassan Hridoy, the film stars Siam opposite Kolkata-based actress Susmita Chatterjee and is scheduled for a cinema release during Eid-ul-Fitr.

Responding to comparisons with Shakib Khan, Siam expressed admiration rather than competitiveness. He described Shakib Khan as a towering presence who has carried the Bangladeshi film industry for more than two decades, adding that such longevity and influence are difficult to match.

Siam said his priority remains improving his craft and delivering stronger performances with each project.

He also addressed the prospect of Rakkhosh releasing during Eid, a period traditionally dominated by Shakib Khan’s films. Rather than seeing this as a clash, Siam said sharing the festive release window would be an honour.

Eid, he noted, is when audiences expect the biggest releases, and having his film screened alongside a megastar’s work would itself be a significant achievement.

Rakkhosh marks Susmita Chatterjee’s debut in Bangladeshi cinema. She plays a modern woman from an affluent background in a story that explores a dark and violent underworld. The makers describe the film as offering a gritty narrative rarely seen in mainstream local cinema.

Director Mehedi Hassan Hridoy confirmed that around 80 percent of the shoot has been completed. The production team is due to return to Dhaka on February 5, with the remaining scenes scheduled to be wrapped by mid-February. Post-production, including editing, is already under way alongside filming.
