Chattogram-based singer Shapla Paul has completed a master’s degree in music, earning her second master’s degree.
A few days ago, she completed her master’s in music, specialising in classical music, from the University of Development Alternative in Dhaka.
Shapla has dreamed of pursuing music since childhood and began receiving formal training at an early age.
Alongside her musical journey, she remained focused on her studies.
While living in Chattogram, she regularly performed at various shows and gradually became known as a singer in the city and surrounding areas.
Shapla has been living in Dhaka with her family for the past few years. She currently performs regularly at stage shows in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
She completed her SSC from Kusum Kumari City Corporation Girls’ School in 2004 and HSC from Hazera Taju Degree College in 2006.
She went on to complete a bachelor’s degree in economics from Chattogram Government Women’s College in 2012 and a master’s in the same subject in 2014.
However, studying music academically had been a long-held ambition. She has now fulfilled that dream, completing her second master’s degree.
Her family is delighted with the achievement, particularly her mother and husband, Arijit.
“I want Shapla to continue pursuing music regularly. I also want her to become more deeply involved in activities related to music. Since music is at the centre of her life, I want her to devote herself to it,” Arijit said, while also wishing her in advance for her birthday.
Shapla’s birthday is on 15 August.
Reflecting on her achievement, Shapla became emotional while remembering her late father.
“Today, I keep thinking about my father and tears come to my eyes. If he were alive, I know how happy he would have been. My mother is happy too, but because she is unwell, she cannot fully express that happiness,” she said.
She also thanked Arijit for supporting her throughout the journey.
“I don’t know what good deed I did in life to be blessed with such a wonderful and big-hearted person as my life partner,” she said.
Shapla added that she has many dreams centred around music and intends to keep working towards them.
“I have so many dreams involving music. I don’t know how much I will be able to achieve, but I will never stop trying,” she said.
