Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir has said that Bangladesh Police force will not take responsibility for any officer attempting to serve personal interests, and strict action will be taken in such cases.
The police chief made the remarks while addressing senior police officers at a special exchange meeting on law and order at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh on Thursday afternoon.
“Work in the interest of the country and to establish peace for the people without bowing down to injustice. However, if anyone makes intentional mistakes or attempts to serve personal interests, the police force will not take responsibility, and strict action will be taken in such cases,” the IGP said.
He said Dhaka is home to people from all walks of life, including local and foreign diplomats.
“Therefore, maintaining a normal law and order situation in the capital is essential for the stability of the entire country,” he added.
The IGP stressed the need for senior officers to increase direct monitoring and ensure effective supervision to make field-level operations more dynamic.
Highlighting the importance of political neutrality and professionalism, Ali Hossain Fakir said, “Regardless of party affiliation or opinions, the police have only one identity — we are servants of the law and the people.”
He said the police’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs would continue.
The IGP urged everyone to remain vigilant against conspiracies aimed at making the police force ineffective, as well as against misleading information.
He called upon police officers to perform their duties in maintaining law and order with courage and dedication, inspired by patriotism.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmad, Additional IGP Khandaker Rofiqul Islam, and officers of various ranks from Bangladesh Police attended the meeting.
