A 27-year-old housewife died after being electrocuted in an electric trap set up to kill foxes at Mathurapur village in Tarash Sadar Union under Tarash upazila of Sirajganj on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Afroza Khatun, 27, wife of Shamim Hossain of the village. Her eight-year-old son and a neighbouring child were severely injured in the incident, and local residents reported that the condition of both children remains critical.

According to local sources, Afroza wrapped galvanised iron (GI) wire around the door of a poultry coop and connected it to electricity on Thursday night to protect her ducks and chickens from fox attacks. On Friday at around 11am, her eight-year-old son went to open the coop door and became entangled in the live wire.
