The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) has directed the submission of an investigation report by 5 April, in a case involving crimes against humanity and mass killings during the Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chattar.
The order, issued on Thursday, applies to several accused, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The tribunal had originally set Thursday as the deadline for the report; however, the prosecution requested additional time as the investigation remains ongoing.
Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim, representing the prosecution, applied for a two-month extension, which the court granted, scheduling the next submission for 5 April.
On Thursday, police produced five arrested accused before the tribunal.
These individuals are former state minister for home Shamsul Haque Tuku, former army officer Major General Ziaul Ahsan, former inspector general of police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque, former deputy inspector general (DIG) Molla Nazrul Islam, and Shahriar Kabir, president of Ekattorer Ghatak-Dalal Nirmul Committee advisory board.
The case stems from a complaint filed with the Chief Prosecutor of the tribunal by Hefazat-e-Islam leader Azizul Haque.
The complaint was lodged on behalf of Hefazat leaders Junaid Al Habib and Maulana Mamunul Haque regarding the events of 5 May 2013. A total of 21 individuals have been named as accused in connection with the massacre.
