Global pop star Shakira, known for hits such as Hips Don’t Lie, Whenever Wherever and Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), was scheduled to perform in India this April at the Feeding India Concert 2026.
Organisers have now confirmed the shows have been postponed due to the “prevailing geopolitical situation and regional tensions.”
“Due to the prevailing geopolitical situation and regional tensions, the Feeding India Concert featuring Shakira has been postponed until further notice.
The well-being of our fans, the artist, and the production team remains our foremost priority. All ticket holders will receive a full refund, automatically processed to the original mode of payment,” District Updates said in a post on Instagram.
The organisers added they are working with Shakira’s team to reschedule the concerts and will announce new dates once confirmed. “Feeding India Concert has always stood for something greater — and that commitment remains unchanged,” the post said.
Shakira was slated to perform at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse on April 10 and Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on April 15.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of escalating conflict in West Asia, which began on February 28 with the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israeli strikes.
Iran retaliated by targeting Israeli and US assets across several Gulf states and Israel, disrupting waterways and destabilising global energy markets. The crisis has effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a vital transit route for global energy supplies.
