Shakib Khan’s latest film Rockstar has been receiving positive reactions from viewers at home and abroad since its release on OTT platform Chorki.
Directed by Azman Rusho, the film has sparked widespread discussion among fans and cinema lovers.
Many viewers praised both the story and Shakib Khan’s performance.
Niamul Karim Pial wrote, “It is a very good film. I wish it had a happier ending, but the conclusion was presented beautifully.”
Another fan, Ifran Akash, described the film as “100 out of 100,” adding that Shakib Khan consistently delivers outstanding movies.
The comments section of Chorki’s verified Facebook page has also been filled with praise. Viewers described the film as “an excellent movie”, “an outstanding film”, and said they were excited to watch it on OTT.
The film has also attracted international attention. A viewer from South Africa, Mohammad Yasin, asked how he could watch the full film from abroad.
Meanwhile, several reviewers from Kolkata have published review videos praising the film’s cinematography, locations, music and performances.
Aritra, from the YouTube channel Aritras Gyan, particularly praised Shakib Khan’s performance.
He noted that after portraying several gangster roles in recent years, the actor successfully reinvented himself by taking on the challenging role of a musician.
Rockstar, starring Shakib Khan alongside Tanzia Zaman Mithila and Sabila Noor, has been released on Chorki as an enhanced cut.
The OTT version runs eight minutes shorter than the theatrical release.
Many viewers noticed the difference, with one commenting that the film felt more polished and that the sound design appeared to have been improved.
Despite the film’s positive reception, piracy has emerged as a major concern.
Several users in the comments section of Chorki’s verified Facebook page openly offered pirated copies of the film, posting messages such as “Contact me for the link” and “Inbox me if you need it.”
The issue has raised concerns across the country’s film industry.
Director Azman Rusho said he developed the story by blending the experiences of real-life rockstars with memories from his own life as a musician.
Instead of portraying Shakib Khan as a conventional action hero or gangster, the film presents him as a struggling musician navigating the highs and lows of life.
The actor also lost weight to prepare for the role.
The screenplay was written by Nusrat Mati, while Ayman Asib and Samiul Bhuiyan wrote the dialogues.
All the songs in the film were written and composed by Ahmed Hasan Sani, who also lent his voice to the soundtrack. Music direction was handled by Zahid Nirab.
Besides Shakib Khan, the cast includes Sabila Noor as Meera, Tanzia Zaman Mithila as a supermodel, Sunidhi Nayek as Sunidhi, Pantha Kanai as an imprisoned musician, Tariq Anam Khan as Ustad Junaid, Rozy Siddiqui as Agun’s mother Shabnam, Dilara Zaman as Agun’s grandmother and Kazi Sabir as Agun’s friend and assistant Aslam.
Presented by Anjan Chowdhury and produced by Sun Motion Pictures Limited, Rockstar is now streaming exclusively on Chorki.
