The metro rail authorities have closed the entry to Shahbagh station due to security concerns caused by ongoing protests in the area.
Passengers can only exit the station, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
The closure of the metro entry has added to the chaos caused by the ongoing blockade in Shahbagh, where members of Inqilab Moncho have gathered to demand justice for the murder of their spokesperson, Sharif Osman Hadi.
The blockade has resulted in road closures and severe traffic congestion in the area.
Earlier, the protest escalated into clashes between Inqilab Moncho supporters and law enforcement officers.
Police responded with batons, rubber bullets, tear gas, and sound grenades. During the confrontation, Abdullah Al Jaber, the member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, was reportedly shot with rubber bullets.
At least 30 other protesters, including Ammar, the general secretary of Rucsu, sustained serious injuries. Many of the injured were treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
As the situation remains tense, the public continues to face significant challenges due to the ongoing protests and the closure of the metro station entry.
