Seat-sharing talks between the National Citizen Party (NCP), the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the group of eight like-minded parties led by Jamaat-e-Islami are closing to being concluded, with allocations of seats between the party candidates close to finalisation.
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman confirmed the development at a press conference held at the National Press Club at around 5pm on Sunday.
“It will be an electoral, as well as a political alliance in order to rebuild the country,” he said.
Senior leaders from the eight like-minded party coalition were present during the press conference.
However, NCP has yet to confirm the matter. The Jamaat ameer went on to add that NCP will announce the alliance at a press conference later.
More to follow.
