Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu on Friday alleged that a so-called “secret force,” originating from the former “helmet force” and backed by the previous government, is behind instigating mob activities across the country.
He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at a discussion meeting organised by BNP in Rajshahi city, marking Independence and National Day.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said protecting independence remains more challenging than achieving it, emphasising a “Bangladesh first” approach in national policy.
“We believe in friendship, not dominance. The people of Bangladesh are our greatest strength,” he said.
Highlighting party dynamics, the minister described the BNP as a grassroots-driven organisation. “This is not a party of ministers or MPs; it is a party of workers, and they are its spirit,” he added.
On the issue of party infrastructure, the minister said the BNP would refrain from occupying government land to establish offices, despite having the opportunities to do so.
“We could use state-owned land under the Land Ministry, but BNP will not engage in such practices. We will acquire land legally and build our office,” he said.
Lawmakers Shafiqul Haque Milan and Abu Saeed Chand, among other local BNP leaders, also addressed the event.
