A schoolteacher was killed on Monday morning after a soil-laden drum truck struck an auto-van in Shahjadpur Upazila of Sirajganj while she was on her way to school.
The deceased, Sabina Khatun, 42, was an assistant teacher at Baldipara Government Primary School in Kayempur Union.
Witnesses said Sabina was travelling to school in a battery-powered auto-van when the speeding drum truck, coming from the opposite direction, rammed the vehicle at Bakultala area in Garadaha Union.
She died on the spot.
Shahjadpur police station sub-inspector Abdul Latif confirmed the incident.
He said police recovered the body and seized the truck involved in the accident.
“We are examining the cause of the crash and legal action will follow,” he added.
