The Supreme Court administration has temporarily dismissed an assistant registrar for using “unacceptable language” on Facebook against the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice, and other justices.
Assistant Registrar (Civil-1) of the High Court Division Ibrahim Alam Bhuiyan was served the dismissal order on Tuesday, 5 May, according to a notification signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui. The matter was made public on Wednesday.
The notification alleged that Bhuiyan made defamatory statements about the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice, and other justices by using “unacceptable” and “disrespectful” language in his Facebook posts.
It further claimed that, for personal gain, the official used other Supreme Court employees to circulate “false and untrue defamation” about the institution and its justices through social media and mainstream media, thereby undermining institutional dignity.
The Supreme Court administration also accused Bhuiyan of inciting other employees not to comply with lawful orders, creating disruption in the office.
The notification stated that these actions constitute gross misconduct and violate office discipline under Rule 3(B) of Rule 2(4) of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh (High Court) Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1983, describing the conduct as an offense under Rule 4(1) of the same regulations.
According to the notification, the maximum punishment for such offenses is dismissal from service.
Following the allegations, Bhuiyan has been withdrawn from his duties and attached to the Administration Branch, the notification added.
No immediate comment was available from the dismissed official.
