Saudi Arabia has officially announced the date for Eid-ul-Fitr, confirming that the festival will be celebrated on Friday, 20 March.
The Saudi Moon Sighting Committee declared that the moon for the month of Shawwal was not sighted on Wednesday, 18 March. Following this announcement, the holy month of Ramadan is set to conclude in the Kingdom after 30 days of fasting.
Earlier, authorities in Turkey and Singapore confirmed separate dates for the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. Both nations determined the beginning of the Islamic month based on astronomical calculations rather than the traditional method of direct moon sighting.
Turkey has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Friday, 20 March. This decision was based on astronomical data suggesting the Shawwal moon could be sighted from Turkey and other regions on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Singapore confirmed that it will celebrate the festival on Saturday, 21 March. Astronomical information indicated that there is no possibility of sighting the moon from the Singaporean sky on Thursday.
In Bangladesh, the official date for Eid is expected to be announced on Thursday.
