Bangladeshi-American DJ and music artiste Sanjoy has been included in the official album of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and is set to perform at the tournament’s opening ceremony, according to a Facebook post he shared on Thursday, June 4.
Sanjoy has achieved a place on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album alongside globally renowned artistes, including The Rolling Stones, Shakira, Daddy Yankee, Burna Boy and Rema. The album also features contributions from other international music icons.
In his Facebook post, Sanjoy said the achievement came after a long wait. He reflected on his upbringing in San Jose, California, where he was exposed to different cultures, which he credits for shaping his musical journey. He also said he had long dreamed of creating music for the world stage.
Sanjoy described the opportunity to perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony and be part of the official album as a matter of great pride. He emphasised that the achievement is not only personal but also an inspiration for young people with big ambitions.
He also confirmed that his track titled “SIIR SIIR” will be part of the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack. The project includes collaborations with artistes such as Nora Fatehi and Vegedream.
In an earlier interview with Samakal, Sanjoy said performing alongside globally recognised artistes still feels unbelievable, adding that he has followed their work for many years. He said being part of such a global event is a remarkable experience and proves that music has no borders.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. FIFA has already finalised performers for the opening ceremonies across the three host nations. Sanjoy is among the selected artistes and is expected to perform alongside international stars including Katy Perry and Lisa of BLACKPINK.
Born in Srimangal, Sanjoy spent his childhood in the Love Lane area of Chattogram before moving to the US, where he grew up in a multicultural environment that he says enriched his musical development. He also noted that music runs in his family, with his mother and grandmother both involved in music.
