Bangladesh received a grand reception after winning the SAFF Under-20 Championship in the Maldives. The government also gave financial rewards to the players and officials.

The ceremony took place at the auditorium of the National Sports Council on the occasion of International Day of Sport. State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque handed over the awards.

Each player and team official got Tk 100,000. The Ministry of Youth and Sports also gave special sports cards and honorary crests to all members of the team.

The government had promised to honour the team after their title win. When the players returned home, they were welcomed with a colourful open-top bus parade. This ceremony was the official reward event.

Aminul Haque said he was happy to honour the young footballers. He also said the government will work to give better facilities and support to players in the future.

Bangladesh won the title after beating India 4-3 in a penalty shootout in the final held in Malé.
