The Students against Discrimination (SAD) has issued a 24-hour ultimatum, seeking explanation on the bails in cases files over the July mass uprising.
The student organisation, however, have expressed grave concern and condemnation over the incident.
The ultimatum came after news reports revealed on Tuesday that police officer Sajjaduzzaman, who first opened fire on Imam Hasan Taim during the July uprising in Jatrabari, has been granted bail by a lower court in Dhaka.
“The release on bail of a prime accused in the July killings is extremely alarming and deeply concerning,” the SAD said in a statement on Tuesday.
Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Central President Rifat Rashid and General Secretary Hasan Inam issued a joint statement on Tuesday.
They have demanded that the bail of the accused be revoked and he be arrested within 24 hours.
Otherwise, the anti-discrimination student movement will announce a tougher protest programmes.
