Dhaka Capitals made a winning start to the Bangladesh Premier League by chasing down the target with confidence. They reached 134 for 5 in 18.5 overs to beat Rajshahi Warriors by five wickets at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The chase did not begin smoothly. Dhaka lost Saif Hasan early. Usman Khan then tried to steady the innings but could not go on. He scored 18 off 15 balls. Mohammad Mithun added 12 from 10 deliveries before getting out.
Abdullah Al Mamun held the innings together with a composed knock. He scored 45 runs from 39 balls and kept Dhaka on track. After his dismissal, Nasir Hossain and Shamim Hossain took control. Nasir made 19 off 22 balls before getting out. Shamim stayed not out scoring 17 off 13.
However, Sabbir Rahman finished the chase calmly yet aggressively. He remained unbeaten on 21 from just 10 balls and guided Dhaka to victory in the final over.
Earlier, Rajshahi Warriors scored 132 for 8 in their 20 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto was the top scorer with 37 off 38 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim added 24 from 23 deliveries, while Mohammad Nawaz remained unbeaten on 26 from 26 balls. Imad Wasim led the bowling for Dhaka with three wickets, and Nasir Hossain picked up two.
Dhaka Capitals sealed the match with five wickets in hand to open their BPL campaign with a win.
