Ryan Gosling will no longer star in the upcoming project from Oscar-winning directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, according Variety. The actor’s exit is due to a scheduling conflict, following a global press tour for Amazon MGM’s sci-fi hit ‘Project Hail Mary’.
The untitled film, originally scheduled for release on June 12, 2027, and later pushed to November 19, 2027, is set to begin filming in Los Angeles this summer. Production could not accommodate Gosling’s packed schedule.
Gosling will still appear in director Shawn Levy’s ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ in 2027. He leads the 2026 box office after Project Hail Mary earned over $334 million globally.
Kwan and Scheinert, known as the Daniels, made their feature debut with ‘Swiss Army Man’ (2016) and found international acclaim with ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ (2022), which won seven Oscars including Best Picture.
The duo, alongside producer Jonathan Wang, will produce the new project under their Playgrounds banner in partnership with Universal.
