Coca-Cola Bangladesh launched Season 4 of Coke Studio Bangla on May 23, marking the birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with the release of the opening track ‘Room Jhoom’, a reinterpretation of Nazrul Sangeet rooted in a Turkish folk melody.

The new season, produced by Coke Studio Bangla, opened with a composition inspired by the Ottoman-Turkish folk song ‘Üsküdar’a Gider İken’, which Nazrul had once transformed into a Bengali monsoon poem, linking musical traditions across regions and generations.

The track brings together Bangladeshi artists Mahtim Shakib and Nusrat Jahan alongside Turkish musicians Elif Hande Cevgel and Mustafa Ipek. It also marks Mahtim’s debut on the Coke Studio Bangla stage, while Nusrat begins her journey as a singer through the platform.

Eight songs are expected to be released in Season 4, each built around distinct emotional and musical themes, according to the announcement.

Since its launch in 2022, Coke Studio Bangla has focused on exploring connections between Bangla music and global traditions, positioning itself as a platform that highlights cultural exchange rather than novelty.

Speaking about her experience, Nusrat Jahan said, “Room Jhoom is deeply personal and incredibly meaningful to me. The song has been produced by Shuvendu Bhaiya, who has been a mentor to both me and my brother Saeef since our childhood, so this collaboration feels like a dream that has come full circle. Beginning my musical journey with Coke Studio Bangla through a song like Room Jhoom makes the experience even more special.”

Mahtim Shakib also described the project as significant, saying: “Being part of Room Jhoom has been a truly special experience. The song carries a rich cultural legacy, and Coke Studio Bangla has created a space where timeless music can be presented in a way that connects with today’s generation while respecting its roots.”

Coca-Cola Bangladesh Limited Managing Director Md Moin Ullah Chowdhury said the project reflects how culture travels across borders and time. “When a Turkish folk melody from centuries ago finds its way into the heart of Bengali poetry, it says something profound about how culture moves, not through imposition, but through recognition. Coke Studio Bangla honors that truth,” he said.

The track will premiere at 7:30 pm on the Coke Studio Bangla official YouTube channel.
