Popular singer Moushumi Akter Salma’s father, Fazlul Haque, has died.
Salma shared the news in an emotional social media post at around 10pm on Wednesday, 16 September.
“My Abba is no more,” she wrote.
Fazlul Haque’s sudden death has cast a pall of grief over the singer’s family and relatives. However, the family has not disclosed the cause of his death or announced when and where his janaza and burial will take place.
Salma had been busy with several new musical projects. She recently lent her voice to Rohan Raj’s much-discussed song Manush Boroi Swarthopor, alongside Sumi Shabnam, Tasiba, Zarin and Rohan Raj. The song’s shooting has been completed and it is scheduled for release on 17 September.
Salma has also released the duet Prem Leela with fashion designer and singer Biplob Saha. Set against the traditions and romantic stories of rural Bengal, the song’s music video received a positive response from viewers.
After a long break from the music scene, Salma recently completed recording a Lalon song titled Kunje Ar Bhalo Lage Na Bondhu Bihone, written and composed by Guru Shafi Mondal. The song is scheduled for release during the upcoming Durga Puja.
