Afran Nisho has been spotted in the remote deserts of Kazakhstan, where preparations are underway for ‘Domm’, the latest survival drama that brings together some of the country’s biggest names in films both on and off screen.
Photos shared by Chorki CEO and filmmaker Redoan Rony on his Instagram handle show the team exploring vast sun-baked landscapes, scripts in hand, as they prepare for what promises to be one of the most ambitious films in Bangladeshi cinema.
In the photos, Nisho is seen sitting leaning against a rock with the sweeping horizon of rocky mountains in the backdrop, while Rony and producer Shahriar Shakil are seen in conversation with international crew members.
The posts, tagged #DommRecce and #Kazakhstan, have fueled excitement online, with fans speculating about the film’s scale and setting.
Domm marks the long-awaited directorial return of National Film Award–winning filmmaker Redoan Rony. Known for his sharp storytelling and creative vision, Rony describes the project as both deeply personal and universally resonant.
“I’m coming to make Domm with all my strength,” he said. “This is a survival drama inspired by true events, about the rise of a common man. There is a power in this story that can inspire not only me but also the audience’s lives.”
While Saudi Arabia and Jordan were initially considered, Kazakhstan’s stark terrain ultimately won the team over. Rony and his crew are currently scouting locations and testing the challenges that such a demanding backdrop will pose for both cast and crew.
Afran Nisho, who has quickly established himself as a box-office success with hits like ‘Surongo’ and ‘Daagi’, is stepping into uncharted waters with Domm.
“The performance here demands many challenges and that’s what drew me in,” he shared. “I haven’t seen this kind of film made in our country before. The story has many layers and the character is rich. It’s a bigger canvas than anything I’ve worked on before.”
Sharing the spotlight with him is Chanchal Chowdhury, another powerhouse of Bangladeshi cinema. For him, the collaboration is equally exciting, “The story of Domm is extraordinary and very challenging. I think the audience will be amazed. And working with Rony again, on such a scale, is something I truly look forward to.”
Although the film’s female lead has not yet been finalized, the producers are confident about assembling a strong ensemble cast. Shahriar Shakil, Managing Director of SVF Alpha-i Entertainment, expressed his optimism.
“After Surongo, Toofan, Daagi and Tandab, expectations are high. With Domm, we are aiming to deliver a story, performances and a cinematic experience that will exceed what audiences are used to,” Shakil told the media.
Jointly produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment and Chorki, Domm is scheduled for release during Eid-ul-Fitr in 2026. Shooting is expected to begin soon after the location recce wraps up. For now, all signs point to a film that is both physically demanding and creatively daring.
From the windswept deserts of Kazakhstan to the layered storytelling envisioned by Rony, Domm seems determined to push Bangladeshi cinema into bold new territory.
