Popular Pakistani vlogger Robina Maroof has opened up about why she chose a Bangladeshi man as her life partner after recently announcing her marriage on social media.
In a heartfelt post, Robina wrote that love and fate led her across borders.
“Yes, I married a Bangladeshi man. When I first travelled to Bangladesh, my mother made me promise that I would neither die nor get married there. But Allah’s plans are always greater than ours. He knew how much I loved Bangladesh and how deeply connected I felt to my roots,” she wrote.
Robina revealed that her husband, Rakibul Hasan, is from Rangpur, Bangladesh, and is currently working in Islamabad, Pakistan. The couple tied the knot in Lahore.
Sharing the reason behind her wedding attire, the vlogger said she chose to wear a sari as a tribute to Bangladeshi culture and to celebrate the bond between the two neighbouring countries.
“I wore a sari on my wedding day to embrace Bangladeshi culture and to celebrate the beauty of bringing Pakistan and Bangladesh closer together,” she wrote.
Robina also shared that her mother was delighted by the marriage, while her father became emotional but was equally happy. She added that she hopes to bring her parents to Bangladesh in the near future.
The vlogger’s connection with Bangladesh goes back generations.
According to Robina, her father moved from Jessore to Pakistan’s Punjab province in 1968, where he eventually settled.
Reflecting on her family’s roots, she said Bangladesh has always held a special place in her heart, making her marriage to a Bangladeshi even more meaningful.
