Popular actress Richi Solaiman is set to perform in the play Bibaho Samachar at a special event in New York on Sunday (23 August), just days after arriving in the United States.
The play, written and directed by playwright and filmmaker Zeenat Hakim, will be staged at Queens Palace in Woodside from 7pm to 11pm.
The event will be hosted by US-based Bangladeshi presenter Sharmin Siraj Sonia, who said the play will be followed by a musical performance from acclaimed singer Rizia Parveen.
Richi said the event has been organised by her elder brother Fahad Solaiman, which has kept her involved in several aspects of the programme beyond her performance.
“I will be acting in Bibaho Samachar. Since the event is being organised by my elder brother, I have also been busy with various other aspects of the programme,” she said.
Before travelling to the US, Richi also appeared as a model in a noodle commercial directed by Shankhadas Gupta.
The advertisement is now airing and has received a positive response, according to the actress.
Sonia said she was delighted to host the programme and hoped audiences would enjoy both the play and Rizia’s performance.
Rizia, who celebrated her birthday two days ago, said she was overwhelmed by the wishes and love she received from fans at home and abroad.
“I will perform at the event and hope to meet everyone there. I will try to captivate the audience through music,” she said.
