The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has congratulated 10 Members of Parliament elected from the housing sector in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, calling their victory a milestone for the industry.
The greetings were conveyed at a REHAB board meeting held at a hotel in the capital on 16 February, where the organisation extended formal congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected representatives.
At the meeting, REHAB’s Board of Directors described the election of the 10 MPs as a significant development for the housing sector, saying greater representation in the National Parliament could help address longstanding policy and regulatory challenges.
The board said stronger parliamentary presence would create scope for coordinated initiatives to resolve tax structure issues, improve urban planning, accelerate implementation of the Detailed Area Plan (DAP), ease utility connections and simplify approval processes.
REHAB President Md Wahiduzzaman said the election of 10 members from the association to Parliament marked a moment of pride for the organisation and the broader real estate industry.
“The election of 10 members of the REHAB family as Members of Parliament is a matter of immense pride and joy for us. It is not merely a personal achievement but a sign of a stronger foundation being built for the country’s housing industry,” he said.
He said the housing sector makes a significant contribution to the national economy through job creation, expansion of construction activity, development of related sub-sectors and revenue generation.
“With direct representation in Parliament, we hope that the sector’s legitimate demands and potential will receive due importance and that pragmatic policy support will be ensured,” he added.
