The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) will accord a reception to newly appointed Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury on 4 January.
The event will be hosted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Supreme Court Bar Association in Courtroom No. 1 of the Appellate Division. The Supreme Court’s Public Relations Office confirmed the announcement on Thursday.
Earlier, on Sunday morning, President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to the Chief Justice at Bangabhaban. The ceremony was attended by Interim Government Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, outgoing Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed, advisers, the Chief Election Commissioner, and other senior officials.
On 23 December, Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury was appointed as the 26th Chief Justice of the country. He is set to retire on 17 May, 2028.
