Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) following a dispute with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar over the film ‘Don 3’, according to a report published on May 25.
The decision was taken by the film workers’ body after Farhan Akhtar reportedly approached them over Ranveer Singh’s abrupt exit from the project. The organisation has now issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor, instructing the industry not to collaborate with him.
As per the report, Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh’s conflict began after the actor stepped away from ‘Don 3’, which had been announced in 2023 as a reboot of the franchise following the earlier films starring Shah Rukh Khan. The dispute reportedly escalated in December 2025 after Ranveer Singh exited the project soon after the success of his film ‘Dhurandhar’.
Sources cited in the report said the actor had requested script changes, which were not accepted by the makers. There were also reports that Farhan Akhtar considered replacing Ranveer Singh with Hrithik Roshan, although this was later denied.
Farhan Akhtar has reportedly sought ₹40 crore in damages, while the matter was also taken to the Producers Guild of India. However, the Guild advised both parties to resolve the dispute amicably instead of pursuing legal action.
In comments to THR India, Farhan Akhtar said, “What I’ve learnt is to expect the unexpected. You can’t take anything for granted until it’s on film. You realise at some point, there’ll be a period that would come that would be a bit challenging. You’ve had it good. It’s okay, just take it in your stride. Sometimes, when roadblocks happen, I feel I should just go back to acting. I wouldn’t have to deal with all this stuff.”
The FWICE is expected to formally address the matter following its decision.
