Ranbir Kapoor says his upcoming epic Ramayana will be a special milestone for his family, as he plans to take his daughter, Raha Kapoor, to watch it in cinemas for the first time. The actor shared the heartfelt moment while interacting with fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
Ranbir, who plays Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part adaptation, attended the event alongside co-stars Yash and producer Namit Malhotra. The team was at Comic-Con to promote the much-awaited film and discuss its making, characters and scale with fans.
During a Q&A session, one fan spoke about taking children to watch Ramayana so they could learn more about India’s culture and mythology. Responding to the comment, Ranbir said he shared the same excitement.
“I’m very excited to take my daughter to the film. It is going to be her first film on the big screen,” he said, according to The Times of India.
Meanwhile, the film’s trailer launch has been postponed indefinitely. It had originally been scheduled for release on 24 July. Producer Namit Malhotra announced the delay in an official statement, saying the launch would now take place globally at a later date following the project’s partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Malhotra described the collaboration as a landmark moment for Indian cinema. He said the partnership would allow Ramayana to reach audiences around the world on the scale of a major Hollywood release. He added that the film would introduce global audiences to India’s rich culture and storytelling traditions while giving Indians a renewed sense of pride.
He also thanked fans and supporters of Ramayana for helping make the project possible. Referring to the country’s younger generation, he said, “The youth of our country are our future. Let’s do the best we can to protect our future. Jai Hind.”
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol. The epic is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2026.
