The body of seven‑year‑old Ramisa Akhtar, raped and murdered in Dhaka’s Pallabi, was laid to rest beside her grandparents’ graves.
Following the Isha prayers on Wednesday night, Ramisa’s namaz-e-janaza was held in the courtyard of Baitul Aman Jame Mosque at Molla Bari in Madhyam Shialdi village in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj.
Relatives, local political figures, and people from all walks of life attended the janaza. After the janaza, she was buried in the family graveyard at Molla Bari.
Ramisa Akhtar, daughter of Hannan Molla of Madhyam Shialdi village in Sirajdikhan, was a second‑grade student at Popular Model High School in Pallabi.
According to case documents, on 19 May, around 9:30am, she left home when accused Swapna Akhtar lured her into her flat. By 10:30am, as Ramisa’s parents and neighbours searched for her, they noticed her shoes outside Swapna’s room.
After repeated calls went unanswered, her parents and other residents broke open the door and discovered Ramisa’s decapitated body on the bedroom floor, with her head inside a large bucket in the room.
