Senior stage actor Dilu Majumdar, a prominent member of theatre troupe Aranyak Natyadal and the Actors Equity Association of Bangladesh, died on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital.
According to family sources, the actor fell seriously ill and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors later declared him dead. He reportedly suffered a heart attack at around 8 pm.
Dilu Majumdar was a familiar face in Bangladesh’s theatre scene and had performed in numerous stage and television productions throughout his long acting career. He earned recognition among audiences for his dedicated performances and natural acting style.
His work in several productions by theatre group Aranyak was particularly appreciated by theatre enthusiasts and fellow artistes.
News of his death has cast a shadow of grief across the country’s cultural community. Fellow actors, directors and cultural activists expressed condolences on social media, while the Actors Equity Association also mourned his passing.
