Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a convict in a drug case who had been a fugitive for 11 years following an operation in Satkania, Chattogram.
Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Law and Media) of Cox’s Bazar RAB-15 AM Faruk confirmed the matter on Wednesday. The arrestee has been identified as Joynal Abedin, 39.
RAB said an operational team from RAB-15 CPC-3 (Bandarban Camp) conducted a raid around 6pm on Tuesday in Khagaria Union where Joynal was arrested.
Faruk said, “Joynal is a criminal. A court sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment in a drug case filed at Bakalia Police Station. To avoid the sentence, he had been in hiding in various parts of the country for the past 11 years.”
RAB added that there are two other cases against him at Satkania Police Station, involving charges of fighting and theft. Joynal was provided with primary medical care and then handed over to the police station for legal proceedings.
