Professor Mobasser Monem has resigned as chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC).
The PSC public relations office confirmed his resignation on Tuesday.
A PSC official said Mobasser Monem resigned around noon, reportedly citing health reasons. However, the official said there could be other reasons behind his decision.
Mobasser Monem, a professor of Public Administration at the Dhaka University, was appointed PSC chairman after the interim government took office following the mass uprising on 5 August, 2024.
His appointment came after then PSC chairman Md Sohorab Hossain and 12 other PSC members resigned following the political changeover.
The government subsequently appointed Mobasser Monem to head the commission.
