Manikganj District Jail released a prisoner on parole for four hours to bid farewell following the death of his father.
District Detective Branch (DB) Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manobendra Balo confirmed the matter on Monday. The prisoner is named Md Kamrul Islam, 30.
OC Manobendra said a 24-member joint team from DB and Singiar Police Station escorted Kamrul to his village under police security. He then took part in the janaza prayer and shared a farewell with his relatives.
According to family sources, Kamrul’s father, Md Abul Kalam, 60, died on Sunday night due to old-age complications.
Following the completion of the funeral and burial, he was returned to Manikganj District Jail under police escort.
