A rare musical reunion is set to light up Eid-ul-Azha as legendary composer Prince Mahmud and vocalist Tanjir Tuhin have joined forces after years of anticipation for “Jochhnay Bhasa Shahar”, the first song from the upcoming government-funded film “Story of Dodo”.

The emotional track, produced under the banner of G-Series and directed by Reza Ghatok, features lyrics by Samuel Haque, music arrangement by Shaker Raja, and vocals by Tanjir Tuhin – whose voice returns to a deeply emotional composition by Prince Mahmud after a long gap.

Prince Mahmud, who has delivered memorable Eid songs for more than 30 years, called the track a deeply personal experience rather than a commercial attempt.

“From now on, I have decided to forget commercial success or the praise of others and sing only for the peace of my soul. This is not a commercial song. This is a song to feel completely in your own way by putting on headphones,” he said.

Tanjir Tuhin said he tried to match the emotional depth of the composition while recording the song.

“I tried to sing with great compassion, realising the emotion with which Prince Bhai composed the song. My singing will be successful only if the audience likes it,” he said.

Director Reza Ghatak revealed that the song took shape through multiple creative sessions with Prince Mahmud, who carefully crafted the melody around the film’s emotions, characters and scenes before the lyrics were finalised.

According to producer Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan and executive producer Khademul Jahan, the song is expected to build strong anticipation around the film ahead of its release.

“Story of Dodo”, which received a Tk60 lakh government grant in the 2021-22 fiscal year, has already been completed. The draft copy was submitted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on May 19, 2026. The film is expected to head to the censor board shortly after Eid-ul-Azha following technical screenings and final corrections.

The movie stars Porimoni and Simon Sadiq in lead roles alongside Amirul Haque Chowdhury, Wahida Mallick, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Ahsan Habib Nasim and Ananda Khaled.

With a star-studded cast, an emotionally charged soundtrack and the return of the Prince Mahmud-Tuhin duo, “Story of Dodo” is already emerging as one of the most anticipated Bangladeshi films of the year.
