State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said the government will take effective initiatives to highlight the extraordinary talents of primary school students in music, dance, recitation, storytelling, and cultural activities on the national stage.
Starting next year, measures will be taken to broadcast talent-based competitions on national television and provide attractive prizes to flourish the creativity of students, the state minister announced.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a prize distribution ceremony for Dhaka divisional level final competition of Primary Education Medal-2026 (Sports, Culture, Subject-based Quiz, and Cubbing), held at Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) in Mirpur.
“Our young students have presented wonderful performances despite limited facilities,” the state minister said, noting that their confidence and talent were “impressive”.
He added that the government intends to present their best efforts to the nation through even more advanced arrangements in the future.
Bobby Hajjaj further emphasised that primary students are in no way lagging behind and possess the potential to become national and international standard artists, cultural personalities, and creative leaders. The government will provide all-out cooperation to help them reach that potential.
Announcing plans for larger-scale competitions next year, Bobby Hajjaj stated that future events would be televised so the entire country could enjoy the talents of primary school students.
He also confirmed that the scope and scale of the awards would be increased. To further encourage educational institutions, the state minister announced new incentives.
He stated that if a student wins a major award, a special grant will be provided to the school in addition to the student’s individual prize. He believes this will further motivate teachers and school authorities to nurture students’ talents.
The state minister also called upon education administration officials at the upazila, union, and local levels to extensively promote cultural and creative activities.
He urged them to involve public representatives, media personnel, and prominent members of society in local competitions to create a festive atmosphere.
Following his speech, the state minister distributed prizes among the winners of the divisional level competitions.
