Akbar Hossain, who served as Minister (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in London, has resigned from his post.
The announcement came through a statement shared on his verified Facebook account on Friday night, where he confirmed stepping down from the role.
Akbar Hossain cited personal and family considerations as the primary reasons behind his decision, stating that these circumstances had made it difficult for him to continue discharging his duties.
“Due to personal and family reasons, it is not possible for me to continue fulfilling my responsibilities there,” he wrote, while emphasising that the move was not influenced by any other factors.
A former journalist with BBC, Akbar Hossain was appointed to the position by the interim government in November 2024 under a two-year contractual agreement.
