A football agent has been arrested in London after allegedly threatening a Premier League footballer with a gun on 6 September, police have confirmed.
The footballer, who is in his 20s and cannot be identified for legal reasons, was reportedly targeted during what has been described as a “horrendous” ordeal. His club is aware of the incident.
Another man is also said to have been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual during the same incident. No injuries were reported in either case.
Police were called at 23:14 BST following reports that a man had been threatened with a firearm. The accused, aged 31, was arrested two days later on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence.
He has been released on bail while enquiries continue. The Metropolitan Police is investigating the incident.
