Dhaka Police carried out a raid at the Pallabi residence of former Dhaka-16 MP Ilias Uddin Mollah around midnight on Tuesday, though the politician was not found at the property.
The operation, initiated by Pallabi Police Station, concluded at approximately 12:30am. Officer-in-Charge Hasan Basir confirmed the search was conducted at the residence behind Prince Bazar in Section 12, following intelligence that Mollah was at home.
Sources said tensions in the area had been rising over recent days after Mollah made several statements on Facebook Live. Local political groups reportedly urged the authorities to act, citing concerns that fugitive leaders and activists associated with the Awami League and its affiliates might attempt to reassert influence in the locality.
The police have yet to release further details on any follow-up actions.
