Playwright Tanin Rahman died on Thursday after suffering a heart attack a day after undergoing a kidney transplant. He died while receiving treatment.
Director Mahmudur Rahman Hime confirmed his death in a social media post. “Our beloved Tanin Rahman bhai is no more,” he wrote in a condolence message.
Rahman had been suffering from kidney complications for a long time. Fellow director Ashiqur Rahman said doctors recently decided to perform his kidney transplant at Kidney Foundation Hospital in Mirpur.
The surgery was successfully completed on Wednesday. Rahman was then kept in the intensive care unit (ICU), where he suddenly suffered a heart attack and died.
For more than a decade, Rahman had built a distinct identity in the entertainment industry by writing stories and screenplays for television dramas. Several of his works became popular with audiences.
