Phoenix Summit Dhaka 2026, a cybersecurity platform aimed at strengthening Bangladesh’s digital resilience, began on Tuesday with a series of technical workshops focused on practical skills development and knowledge transfer ahead of its main conference later this week.
The five-day event, organised by The TeamPhoenix Group and powered by BRAC Bank PLC, is being held under the theme “Closing the Cyber Gap in Emerging Economies”. The opening three days, from June 23 to June 25, are dedicated to hands-on training sessions at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Dhaka, while the main conference is scheduled for June 26-27 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.
The summit brings together government stakeholders, industry leaders, academic institutions, cybersecurity professionals, researchers, students, technology enthusiasts and international partners.
According to the organisers, the workshop segment is designed to provide participants with practical exposure to real-world cybersecurity challenges and defensive capabilities through expert-led sessions running daily from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
A key component of the programme is an exclusive workshop titled “Practical Cyber Investigation”, organised in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency. The session is being led by Adli Wahid, Senior Internet Security Specialist at APNIC, Australia, and is restricted to invited representatives from law enforcement agencies and government Critical Information Infrastructure organisations.
Other workshops include “DevSecOps for Practitioners”, led by Arif Hossen, Chief Executive Officer of MetaHeed, and Jasim Alam, Principal Platform Engineer at Field Nation. The session focuses on integrating security practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Independent Security Researcher Imran Huda is conducting a workshop on application security, vulnerability management and penetration testing, while cybersecurity specialists MD Samiul Islam and Mahfuj Ahmed Tareq of Shorborno Holdings Ltd are leading a session on ransomware defence, detection techniques and security engineering.
“Cyber security has become a national priority that demands both skilled talent and strong collaboration,” A S M Shamim Reza, Founder and Chief of Research at The TeamPhoenix Group, said in a press release.
He said the summit was designed as a collaborative platform to strengthen Bangladesh’s cybersecurity ecosystem and was expected to attract more than 10,000 participants during the five-day programme.
According to Reza, the event seeks to bring together four key pillars of national cybersecurity — government, industry, academia and professionals — to strengthen digital resilience and help prepare future cybersecurity leaders.
Following the workshop phase, the summit will continue with conference sessions featuring hands-on training, team exercises, fellowship programmes, expert panel discussions, technology exhibitions and demonstrations covering cyber defence, offensive security and emerging technology trends.
The event is supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ICT Division and the National Cyber Security Agency.
